Why We’re Using EntryCentral for Entries This Year

We’re excited to announce that entries for this year’s Harwich Triathlon will be managed through EntryCentral — a trusted and British Triathlon–approved entry platform.

Why the change?

From 2025, British Triathlon (BTF) requires that all competitors — in both adult and junior races — have a valid Race Pass (previously known as a Day Licence). This is a form of short-term membership that provides essential public liability insurance and ensures every participant is covered under BTF’s national event insurance.

To meet this new requirement, we had two options:

  1. Ask everyone to enter through our own website like last year and then make a second, separate purchase on the BTF website for their Race Pass, or

  2. Use an approved entry platform that’s fully integrated with British Triathlon.

We’ve chosen EntryCentral because it’s one of the official BTF-approved systems — meaning your Race Pass (if needed) can be automatically added to your entry. It’s simpler, quicker, and ensures that all the necessary insurance and affiliation details are handled correctly at the point of entry.

What is a BTF Race Pass?

A Race Pass is required for anyone taking part in a British Triathlon–sanctioned event who isn’t a current BTF member.

  • It provides you with temporary race-day membership and insurance cover.

  • It’s usually £8 for adults and £2 for juniors, depending on the race distance.

  • If you already have an annual BTF membership, you don’t need to buy a Race Pass — simply enter your membership number when you go through the entry process on EntryCentral.

Why does it matter?

This system helps ensure that every athlete is:

  • Properly insured and registered under BTF’s event cover,

  • Taking part in an event that meets national safety and quality standards, and

  • Supporting the sport’s development through the governing body.
